Rock & Roll in the Garden: Park View’s 1950s Summer Party
This year, our annual Garden Party took us straight back to the 1950s, and it was a rock & roll blast from start to finish! The weather may have thrown us a curveball with a sudden downpour, but at Park View, the party must go on. In true rock & roll spirit, we quickly transformed our cinema room and café into a retro “motel,” where the music kept playing, the dancing didn’t stop, and the laughter carried on just the same.
A Garden Full of Rock & Roll Spirit
Our gardens (cafe and cinema room) were transformed into a retro stage for the afternoon, with bunting, bright colours, and that feel-good 50s buzz. Families, friends, and staff joined residents for a celebration filled with laughter, dancing, and plenty of Elvis-worthy moves.

Residents Showed Us How It’s Done
This time around, it wasn’t just the music that got everyone moving; it was our residents, too! They showed us a few rock & roll steps of their own, and we’ll be honest… they put most of us to shame! From hip-swinging to hand-jiving, the dance floor (or in this case, ) was alive with energy and fun.

Music, Food & Sunshine (well kinda)

The soundtrack was pure 1950s gold, Elvis classics, rockabilly beats, and timeless tunes that had everyone singing along. Our head chef kept spirits high with delicious barbecue bites, summer salads, and plenty of sweet treats. And of course, no summer party is complete without an ice cream or two in the sunshine.
Dressing the Part
From polka dots and poodle skirts to leather jackets and slicked-back hair, everyone looked the part. Staff and residents embraced the theme, and the result was a garden full of colour, confidence, and charm.

A True Family Affair
As always, the best part was the togetherness. Residents, families, and staff shared food, laughter, and dancing, creating memories that felt like one big family gathering. It’s these moments — the smiles, the stories, the fun — that make Park View feel like home.

Our 1950s Rock & Roll Garden Party was one to remember. The photos say it all: joy, laughter, and maybe a few secret dance lessons from our amazing residents.
We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
