There’s a new face at Park View Care Home, and we couldn’t be more pleased to introduce her. Jacky Gelder has joined us as our new Home Manager, and she’s already settling into life on London Road.
If you’ve walked or driven past Park View over the years, you’ll know we’ve been part of this community for a long time. Welcoming a new manager is always a special moment, and Jacky brings exactly the kind of warmth, experience and energy we were hoping for.
A nurse at heart
Jacky’s career began at the bedside. She’s a registered nurse, and that clinical grounding has shaped everything she’s done since. She’s spent her working life caring for older people and the teams who look after them.
From a 6-year period working with the Army to managing an 80-bed care home, and an operations role looking after five care homes at once. But ask her what she’s most proud of, and she’ll tell you it’s the relationships, the staff she’s mentored, the families she’s supported, and the residents whose days she’s helped to brighten.
“That’s the feeling I want at Park View”
Jacky’s favourite song is What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, and it tells you quite a lot about her approach to care.
“For me, care is about the small moments that make a big difference,” she says. “A familiar song, a shared cup of tea, a proper conversation. That’s the feeling I want every resident, family member and staff member to have when they walk through our doors. I can’t wait to get to know the people who make Park View what it is.”
Passing the baton
This is a particularly special moment for our Operations Director, Angie Ryan. Many residents, families and long-serving staff will know Angie well. Angie was Park View’s original manager and shaped much of what makes this home feel like home today. Angie has recently been promoted to Operations Director after successfully managing our sister home, The Cambridgeshire Care Home. Welcoming Jacky to Park View is, in many ways, Angie passing the baton to a manager she trusts to carry that ethos forward.
Angie said,
“Park View will always have a very special place in my heart, it’s where so much of our story began. Choosing the next person to lead this home was a decision I didn’t take lightly. In Jacky, I’ve found someone with the clinical expertise, the operational know-how, and, most importantly, the heart that Park View deserves. I know our residents, families and team are in wonderful hands, and I’m looking forward to supporting her in her new role.”
If you want to meet Jacky
Why not pop in for a coffee/or cuppa, and we can discuss your care needs.
